Beyond Asana: enlighten your practise - yoga beyond the mat…
Any cursory understanding of yoga will point towards a whole world ‘beyond asana’. The road map of Patanjali gives 8 avenues or steps of study and practise. The Bhagavad Gita invites the student of yoga to explore the 4 ‘margas’ or paths of yoga. The Upanishads are filled with references to the diversity and multi-faceted nature of yoga.
Embraced fully our yoga will merge into all areas of our lives. Our relationships (with ourselves, others and our planet), and our life choices become an extension of the conscious breath and movement on our asana mats. The yoga comes off the mat and into all aspects of life. A life lived in yoga, beyond the asana.
This series of workshops will explore yoga beyond asana drawing on teachings from the Vedas, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita and other seminal yogic texts.
Looking through the lens of going beyond the asana, enrich your practise and your life.
Discrimination, Detachment and the path of yoga - Viveka and Vairagya
Viveka and Vairagya or Discrimination and Detachment are given great importance on the path of yoga. We will look at what it means to cultivate these ‘attitudes’ on the mat and how we can take them off the mat and beyond asana.
