Inversion Foundations
Saturday 6 September | Bristol
A full-day immersion to explore and transform your experience of headstand, forearm-stand, shoulderstand and handstand — with grounded biomechanics, empowering techniques, and expert guidance.
“This was the BEST training I’ve ever done.”
— Shari, Yoga Teacher
This is not your average inversions workshop.
Master the mechanics, mindset & methods behind inversions.
Inversions offer something no other asana does — a unique sense of lightness, strength, and presence that can transform your practice (and your state of mind).
But after two decades of exploring and teaching these postures, here’s what we know:
How you approach them changes everything.
🎂 Much like baking, the outcome depends on your ingredients and your method. And while many commonly taught cues sound logical, they often don’t set you up for success.
Whether you’re already practising inversions or just starting to explore them, there’s a big difference between effortful and integrated.
Struggling doesn’t lead to progress — precision does.
That’s exactly what we’ll explore in this immersive, hands-on day of practice.
What you’ll learn
This full-day training breaks down the biomechanical foundations of 4 primary inversions:
Headstand (Sirsasana)
Forearm-stand (Pincha Mayurasana)
Shoulderstand (Sarvangasana)
Handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana)
You’ll learn how to challenge outdated norms, rebuild strong and functional foundations, and approach inversions in a way that feels clear, grounded, and empowering.
You’ll leave with:✅ Strength through spinal-chain integration — not just pushing through your arms or core
✅ A lighter, more sustainable experience of each inversion
✅ Tools to correct common misalignments and discover better balance, control, and lift
✅ Safer, more effective ways to support your students
✅ Confidence in your own inversion journey — whether you’re starting fresh or refining your practice
This training is for you if:
You’re a yoga practitioner with at least 6 months’ experience and want to understand inversions from the ground up
You’re a teacher looking for more intelligent, accessible and biomechanically sound ways to teach these postures
You’ve never done headstand or handstand — but want to learn safely and skillfully
You’ve hit a plateau in your inversion practice, or feel stuck and unsure why
You’ve been told to “just keep trying,” but progress hasn’t come
You want to feel stable, connected and confident being upside down
“It wasn’t a lack of effort. It was that the method didn’t match the mechanics of the posture. That changed everything.”
Why this approach is different
Most students — and many teachers — have been taught inversions through cues that don’t actually align with how the body functions.
Here are some common headstand ones:
❌ Measuring arm placement by holding opposite elbows — which twists the shoulders and works against the arm action you really need
❌ Prioritising dolphin poses — instead of building strength where it counts (like the spinal chain)
❌ Placing your knees too far back — which often loses the essential spinal lift as your pelvis moves back rather than up
These habits are taught with the best of intentions — but when they go unchallenged, they keep you stuck in a cycle of strain and effort.
This immersion gives you the tools to:
Rewire your approach using biomechanically sound principles
Work with gravity, structure and intelligent tension
Experience inversions as light, integrated and easeful

FAQ’s
Do I need to be able to do a headstand or handstand already?
Not at all. This day is designed to support everyone — from complete inversion beginners to experienced practitioners — in building or refining a strong, sustainable inversion practice.
Is this suitable for yoga teachers?
Yes. You’ll gain a biomechanics-based framework that you can immediately bring into your classes — plus powerful tools to better support your students.
I’ve been practising headstand for years — will this still be relevant?
Absolutely. If your current approach feels heavy, inconsistent, or unclear, this immersion will help you rebuild from the ground up and unlock new freedom.
What if I’m not strong or flexible enough?
You don’t need extreme strength or flexibility. What matters is learning how to work with your body using smarter technique — and that’s what this day is all about.
How many places are available?
Just 12 — to ensure you get plenty of individual support, hands-on help and tailored feedback.
